The ROI studies are based upon conversations with the project partner our team worked with on the respective project. They outline the general benefit of laser scanning. Cost, timing and quality impacts are commented on across a variety of project applications.
Initial studies will include transmission power line modelling and LRT design support.
Studies to come will include oil & gas asset management, interchanges, and urban infrastructure improvement.
Helimap Mobile Scan for Enmax on behalf of Power Engineers
Re: Mobile Laser Scanning Benefit
The group at Power Engineers (formerly Mitkor Power) needed a way to rapidly collect data for existing Enmax power lines for Transmission line work, as-built information in particular. When assessing the various options between conventional, drone and mobile laser scanning the choice was clear when considering the quality of the data relative to the cost and turn around time.
The deliverables were critical for detailed data for the transmission lines, nearby roads, terrain and streetlights. The mobile mapping choice was selected to ensure the quality of the information collected compared to other methods. The appropriate scaling ability for the project application with the McElhanney remote sensing group stood out during the selection process. The ability for the data to be curated and provided in a deliverable that worked with Power Engineer’s design program was seamless and well understood by the McElhanney project team in the initial project phase. McElhanney remains as the go-to providers for this type of work when it is required.
